In the past, flooding the web with ads guaranteed attention. But in a world governed by algorithms and content bubbles, appealing to the masses is a one-way ticket to obscurity.

Know your audience and speak directly to them.

Forgo self-promotional posting. Spammy, gimmicky posts are the first to be repelled. Instead, focus on visual-heavy content with strong, succinct messaging.

Offer useful information that cements user relationships and garners user affinity. The greater that affinity, the better your chances of breaking through into their search results.

When all’s said and done, thoughtful design is your best defense against potentially troublesome algorithms.
